Council withdraws 4-way stop proposal at Eighth Avenue South and Cedar Street pending traffic study

Lewisburg City Council members on June 10 agreed to withdraw consideration of a resolution that would have installed a four-way stop at the intersection of Eighth Avenue South and Cedar Street. Council members said they had received additional information from school-bus operators and wanted to complete two traffic studies before returning the matter to the agenda.
The item had been deferred from the May 13 meeting. Councilman Burrows moved to withdraw the resolution rather than defer it; Councilman Crutcher seconded the motion and the council approved it on a roll-call vote. Council members said withdrawal would allow staff to complete the requested studies and return a refined recommendation at a future meeting.
City staff and council members discussed coordinating the traffic study with school-bus officials and other stakeholders. No installation or procurement steps will proceed until the council receives the study results and places the item back on a future agenda.
