The Mission Economic Development Corporation told council Monday it hosted a commercial and investment tour last week and will hold a seed‑funding pitch competition for local entrepreneurs.
A city EDC representative (Seth) reported the tour brought developers and brokers to see new projects on Mission’s south side, and said the EDC’s work is aimed at promoting Mission “as a great place to live, work and play.”
Seth said 13 entrepreneurs will compete in the seed‑funding competition for cash prizes to start businesses: first place $25,000; second place $15,000; third place $10,000. The event is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday and will be streamed live on Facebook; the EDC is posting profiles of the entrepreneurs in advance to familiarize the public with the contenders.
Council thanked the EDC for the update and encouraged residents to attend or view the streamed event.
No formal council action was required.
