At its June 12 meeting, the Shelbyville City Council approved the consent agenda and took several budgetary and procurement actions.
On the consent agenda the council accepted monthly reports for May 2025 and approved accounts payable for May. The council also authorized the mayor to sign Grant Amendment No. 3 for a police department retention and recruitment grant that extends the eligible officer enrollment date to March 2026.
The council authorized the purchase of a JCB model 270 T compact track loader with auger attachment from TriStar JB of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, using the Sourcewell cooperative contract 020223‑JCB. The total purchase price is $87,900, to be funded from $97,401.60 in savings within three Public Works Department FY2025 accounts as reported to the council.
Separately the council approved an award for the SYI Midfield Utilities Development Project (water) to Tomcat Construction LLC in the amount of $408,216.90. The award was made based on bid committee recommendations and a review by Garber Engineering and was contingent on approval by TDOT Aeronautics as noted in the meeting record.
Later on final reading the council also approved an ordinance amending the adopted FY2024–25 budget for various city funds for the period ending June 30, 2025. The transcript records roll‑call affirmative votes on the budget amendment; the recorded discussion was limited and the finance officer/treasurer was present during the item.
