Committee backs expedited hiring preference for displaced federal workers, with limits and sunset

Council Vice President (sponsor) presented a bill to create an expedited hiring preference in Montgomery County for residents who are former federal civil servants separated from their jobs by a federal reduction in force and who meet application requirements. The Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee voted unanimously to recommend the legislation to the full council after adopting several amendments.
