The Delhi Township Board of Trustees on Wednesday approved hourly pay increases for several police department support staff and discussed recruitment and training initiatives intended to retain personnel.
Trustees voted to raise the hourly rate for Kathleen S. Giblin, manager of support services, to $31.50 per hour effective June 11, 2025, and approved raises for multiple clerks and assistant positions, including Laurie E. Lawrence, Barbara J. Merlebrink Beaver, Mikaela R. Lakamito, Lisonbee Nevin and Mary Beth Bridal, with effective dates and hourly rates recorded in the meeting minutes.
Chief Braun told trustees the department used a market survey of comparable positions in Hamilton County and beyond to set the increases, saying the goal was to be competitive and reduce turnover: “We found ourselves with especially with the part timers where we were, you know, paying our people less than some of the, you know, fast food chains on the High Pike, and we were training people for a year, then they were gone.”
The board also heard that the police department will offer a Citizens Police Academy starting in October and that Lieutenant Meyer will coordinate applications. Chief Braun warned residents about an Ohio BMV text-message scam and provided the police station’s main number, (513) 922-0060, as a resource for verification.
No motion was needed for the Citizens Police Academy announcement; the pay increases were passed by roll call as recorded in the meeting minutes.
These personnel actions were presented as part of routine departmental staffing and retention work; trustees did not modify department policy or establish new hiring rules at the meeting.
