School committee ratifies teacher, administrative contracts; agreements were unanimously approved

At its June 12 meeting the Westwood School Committee unanimously ratified memoranda of understanding with the Westwood Teachers Association and with the Westwood Administrative Assistance Association.
Superintendent Tim Puawar thanked both bargaining teams and described negotiations as collaborative, saying the parties came to the table “in a way that was about how we solve problems collectively.” The contracts had been ratified by each bargaining unit earlier in the week and were presented to the committee as action items on the June 12 agenda.
The committee also approved market‑aligned rate adjustments for employees who are not members of collective bargaining units, which the administration described as following a routine annual process. Committee members voted unanimously on the non‑bargaining rates after discussion of market alignment.
The meeting record shows the three action items (ratifying the two MOUs and approving non‑bargaining rates) were moved, seconded and approved with unanimous voice votes. The administration said it would implement the agreements and update staff and payroll accordingly.
