The event was budgeted at just over $5,500 for 2025 and actual vendor cost for this year came in at about $5,000. Staff and one committee member argued a single annually scheduled event would let residents plan and would keep village costs lower than hosting multiple events.
A committee member who moved the recommendation said making the e‑cycle an annual spring event would keep per‑household costs down while providing a reliable collection opportunity. Committee members also suggested offering alternate drop‑off options — for example arranging an alternate site or partner drop‑off for residents unable to attend the single scheduled day — similar to prescription drug take‑back partnerships.
The committee passed the motion to keep one e‑waste event per year and directed staff to continue advertising and to coordinate logistics with the vendor. Staff will include the one‑event plan in the 2026 budget materials and explore options for residents who cannot attend the single event date.
