County updates: wastewater phases nearing completion; 911 center construction moves upward

Steve Wood, county project manager, briefed the Redevelopment Commission on multiple construction projects, saying the county is "getting close to completion on Phase 1 and Phase 2" of the wastewater work and that work is underway at several pump/station locations.
Wood said Phase 3 is currently under discussion and that design and engineering would be paid by the county while construction would be paid by the contractor or by developers when mains or business connections are made. "Phase 3 is outside the original scope of work," Wood said, describing the leg that would run toward Cicero and Demi Road as part of a later extension.
On the 911 center, Wood reported the project is "going vertical" with the steel erection underway, parking lots paved with asphalt and drainage nearing completion. He said the county is working with the state to finalize an emergency in-and-out access on State Road 37 for emergency vehicles. At the training facility, staff completed required tree clearing for bat habitat timing and are finalizing the GMAX portion of the work.
Wood said the armory has water now, that sewer lines are being tested and accepted, and that finish work such as landscaping and grass repairs is in progress. He indicated that major site utility moves and site work for the judicial project should be ready to start — "I would anticipate breaking around no later than September" — and that the next RDC filing report is due in November. Staff also said they will provide the commission with a written sewer-inspection process and circulate the inspection/exemption concept when it is ready.
