The Westmont Village Board approved an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the Southwestmont Fire Protection District continuing village-provided fire protection and ambulance services to properties in the South Fire District for one year, from June 1, 2025 to May 30, 2026.
Fire Chief Riley told the board the IGA requires the Southwestmont Fire Protection District to pay Westmont $20,000 from its tax levy revenues for the covered year; staff said this figure reflects a $5,000 decrease from the prior year because annexation removed taxable parcels from the district’s levy base. Chief Riley reported eight calls for service in the South District last year and zero calls through January of the current year.
Trustee Little moved approval; Trustee Plowman seconded. The ordinance passed by roll call with all trustees voting yes, and staff said the payment amount and one-year term were appropriate given current call volume and tax base changes.
