Land Bank reports Lily Pond barn moved; commissioners favor gravel path pending permits

Nantucket Land Bank staff reported on June 10 that the Ethan (Lily Pond) barn has been moved, rotated and set on a new foundation and that the associated walking path alignment is settled. Staff showed recent photos of the relocated barn and the path corridor and said they expect substantial completion in June, with some plantings possibly delayed until the fall.
Commissioners discussed surfacing for the path. Staff said the current plan called for a cobble two‑track but that contractor Hunter asked whether a gravel two‑track would be acceptable; commissioners who spoke said they preferred gravel because it is more common for Land Bank paths and less expensive, but staff cautioned that permitting implications must be checked before a final decision.
Staff also described work on fencing, gates and a post-and-rail installation, and noted the Land Bank’s responsibility for some plantings that may be deferred. No formal vote was taken; staff will check permitting and return with a recommendation.
The commission also asked staff to search for a missing donated rock mentioned by neighbors; staff said they would look for it on site.
