Connetquot honors county, state and national qualifiers across winter and spring sports

Katie Porcelli was recognized for an outstanding wrestling season; district presenters said she finished the regular season undefeated and compiled a reported 32–2 record that included a county championship and participation at the New York State championship. The district also celebrated the varsity boys track and field program for completing a perfect season across grades 9–12, earning league and Suffolk County championships and producing eight state qualifiers. Individual county champions named in remarks included Jaden McCabe (55 meters), Fernando Padilla (high jump), Alex Molter/Polter (events listed in remarks) and Jeremiah Davis (long jump). The district read a list of relay and individual champions noted at county competition.
Swimmer Declan Duran was recognized for earning All‑State honors after placing within the top finishers in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle at the state meet, according to the district presentation. The varsity cheer team was honored for reaching national finals in both traditional and game-day divisions and for regional championships.
The varsity baseball team was introduced as the 2025 Connetquot Thunderbird varsity baseball team. Presenters said the team compiled a 16–2 league record before playoffs and a 23–5 overall record in the season, and they won the Suffolk County large-school championship after winning multiple elimination games over a seven-day stretch. Presenters also noted milestones for the program’s historical win totals presented during remarks.
Coaches and athletic staff present or named in remarks included coach White, coach Farrell, coach Edwards, coach Alex Schickelone (swimming), coach Iovino (cheer), Mike Austin (girls track), Rob Berger, Nick Unger and others. The district asked athletes and coaches to join the post-event refreshments.
