The Apopka Development Review Committee on June 11 reviewed permit plans for three summer events at the Northwest Recreation Complex: a pair of fitness sessions by Raya’s Fitness Professionals, Rhythm and Boots Summerfest, and Sabor Latino Fest.
Recreation staff said Raya’s Fitness Professionals will hold two fitness sessions — July 8 (evening) and July 12 (morning) — with about 50 participants expected at each session and stations set up across one field at the complex. “Expect about 50 people for each event,” a recreation staff member said.
Rhythm and Boots Summerfest is scheduled for July 26 from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the amphitheater and is expected to draw about 3,500 attendees. Staff said food vendors and alcohol service are planned and that the applicant provided a layout and ticketing plan; insurance documentation remains outstanding, and staff said it must be submitted prior to final permit issuance.
Sabor Latino Fest is planned for July 19 from noon to 10 p.m. and is expected to draw about 4,000 people; the event will include food vendors and alcohol service, staff said. Staff also reminded organizers that the complex’s curfew is 10 p.m. and that event permits that include alcohol normally require off-duty officers for security or alcohol-control duties.
Planning, public works/engineering, fire and building divisions raised no substantive objections in the DRC review. Police and staff confirmed that off-duty officers would be used where alcohol is served and that final insurance and licensing documentation must be provided before a permit is finalized.
No formal motions or votes were recorded in the transcript. Staff indicated they will reissue any outstanding comments to applicants and will not finalize permits until required insurance and, where applicable, proof of alcohol licensing and off-duty officer arrangements are submitted.
