The Artesia City Council opened and closed a public hearing Monday and adopted a resolution confirming the FY 2025–26 diagram and assessment for the City of Artesia Streetlight Maintenance District.
Finance Manager Jamie Murguia described the engineer’s report adopted in May that proposed a total assessment of $137,420 to fund installation, maintenance and servicing of street lights and related facilities. The recommended per‑parcel assessment formulas remain equivalent to the prior fiscal year: for residential parcels (Zone 1) the assessment is $5.90 plus $0.34 per foot of frontage; for non‑residential parcels (Zone 2) $5.90 plus $1.44 per foot of frontage.
Council adopted the confirming resolution by unanimous vote after no public comments were received. Staff said assessments are allocated based on the special benefit conferred to parcels by the street light improvements and remain unchanged from the prior year.
