The initial registration fee was set at $395.60 — comprised of a $125 technology platform charge and $270.60 to recover city staff time for ownership verification, outreach and four quarterly inspections. Annual renewals are set at $341.48 using the same platform and staff time assumptions. The city will move to an online registration platform through Decker Technologies to improve record‑keeping and enforcement.
Why it matters: Vacant properties can deteriorate neighborhood conditions and create code enforcement burdens. The new structure is intended to recover administrative costs and provide the city with sustained monitoring capacity.
Outcome: Council adopted the resolution updating the fee schedule by a 5‑0 vote. Staff said the fees are based on an internal cost analysis and are intended for full cost recovery; the program will return for administration and enforcement as needed.
