Maywood City Council on May 28 approved one‑year renewals for four existing commercial cannabis businesses after staff reported the firms were current on state licensing, municipal conditions and required audits.
Deputy building and planning staff summarized the renewal reviews. For each applicant staff cited state licensing status, the date of the most recent city inspection and the results of required background checks and financial audits. Staff said minor corrective items (example: branded merchandise labeling) were noted for some firms and would be addressed in staff follow‑up inspections.
The four renewals granted by council were:
- Maywood Cookies (microbusiness) at 5815 Maywood Avenue — renewal to 05/12/2026 after a March inspection and cleared backgrounds and audits.
- Firehouse Healthcare Industries, Inc. (retailer) at 6118 Atlantic Boulevard — renewal to 05/12/2026 with staff to confirm state license renewal dates.
- Maywood Green Solutions / Haven (retailer) — renewal to 05/12/2026 after inspections, background checks and audits were found current.
- OG Nation (microbusiness) at 6142 Walker Avenue — renewal to 05/12/2026; staff reported the business is current on required state and local obligations.
Council voted on each renewal by roll call after staff recommended approval under the city’s cannabis business ordinance, which allows continued operation of businesses that predate the city’s licensing moratorium when they meet renewal criteria. Staff said the city and its compliance partner HDL conduct quarterly inspections and financial audits as part of the renewal process.
