Bowling Green Elementary modular classrooms scheduled for late July arrival; site permits and utility coordination ongoing

Caroline County Public Schools staff updated the school board June 11 on the installation timetable and site work for modular classroom units at Bowling Green Elementary School, saying the vendor expects to release completed units July 21 and that on‑site arrival is planned for July 28.
Chris (project lead) told the board the Board of Supervisors had appropriated FY24 year‑end funds for the project and that plans, color selections, intercom and fire‑alarm purchase orders and coordination meetings with county code, utilities and contractors had been completed. He said geotechnical testing will be scheduled because the county would not accept a 2012 nuclear gauge field density report for the site.
Wilmot, the modular manufacturer, had the units in production and expected to ship late July; CCPS planned insulation and a move‑in beginning August 4. The division reported the discovery of a six‑inch water line under the center of the basketball court; CCPS and county utilities discussed moving the line and reported that no upgrades to the Bowling Green Elementary water meter were required after a fixture count resolved the connection question.
Board members asked about IT equipment procurement timing, badge readers and student entry from the modulars. The project lead said intercom and fire‑alarm POs were submitted in early June and that the red arrow on the site graphic marked the student entry point into the main building; the team is considering temporary badge passes to re‑enter the main building. The board requested monthly updates until installation and move‑in are complete.
Staff did not present a final signed building permit on June 11; they reported the civil site plan was expected for review June 13, after which building permits and sealed plans would be processed.
