The Manor City Council voted unanimously June 4 to authorize a letter of intent to participate in Travis County’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships program for upcoming funding cycles.
Staff said participation will allow the city to collaborate with the county on applications that prioritize infrastructure and housing rehabilitation in lower‑income census tracts. The county’s program requires participating cities to submit a letter of intent; Manor signed that letter at the meeting.
City staff noted that if Manor joins the county’s consolidated application, the city would not separately apply for CDBG funding on its own during the participation period and that the county would likely administer selected projects. Staff said the county’s allocation was roughly $1.6 million and that the county would evaluate eligible projects and may administer projects directly or allow the city to administer on a case‑by‑case basis.
Councilmember Reyna moved to authorize the mayor to sign the letter of intent. The motion passed 6‑0.
Staff said the program could support infrastructure improvements and housing rehabilitation in older parts of Manor and that the county will provide additional presentations to council to explain application and administration details for interested residents.
