Council members moved and approved the resolution without recorded opposition. Following the vote, the police chief explained he had located the opportunity and followed up after learning the grant administration required a state-level resolution. The chief said the grant is administered through USI and also routed through the governor’s office, which is why the council needed to adopt the resolution.
Next steps: staff will submit the grant application and, if awarded, the police chief will execute grant-related documents and acquire the ballistic helmets at no local match cost.
