Sweetwater approves updated water-supply contract with City of Trent; fees remain unchanged

The Sweetwater City Council on June 10 approved an updated water-supply contract between the City of Sweetwater and the City of Trent to replace a prior 40-year agreement that had been renewing month to month.
Justin (city staff) told the council the proposed contract carries the same fees as the prior arrangement but includes language that any rate changes the city implements will be passed through to Trent. "So the fees are the same, but, within the contract, anytime that we have any rate changes, the city of Trent will have those rate changes as well," Justin said.
A council member moved to approve the contract and the motion carried by vote. The council did not specify contractual term length in the recorded exchange beyond staff’s reference to a newly proposed contract; the motion approved the updated agreement as presented.
The updated contract ends the month-to-month renewals of the prior 40-year agreement and formalizes how future rate adjustments will affect the partner municipality.
