The Eagle Pass Metropolitan Planning Organization policy board unanimously approved a resolution authorizing submission of a detailed application to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for the 2025 Transportation Alternatives (TA) call for projects.
The resolution supports applying for $300,000 with a 0% local match, enabled by transportation development credits, and authorizes the MPO director to act on behalf of the Eagle Pass MPO in matters related to the application. The staff presentation clarified that the request is for a planning grant (to hire a consultant to establish a transportation plan) rather than a construction grant.
MPO staff noted the City of Eagle Pass serves as the fiscal agent for the MPO and that the resolution language was amended on the record to reflect that the MPO and the City of Eagle Pass will comply with TxDOT grant requirements if awarded. Staff said the detailed application is due June 20. Board members were told awards are expected in late summer; staff said awards are typically announced around August or September and many contracts start on Sept. 1.
A motion to approve the amended resolution was made by Miss Cook, seconded by Miss Valeras, and the board voted unanimously in favor. No additional conditions were placed on the application at the meeting.
