Staff said Agnes Road work is progressing and estimated completion of remaining items could be “six months to a year,” subject to additional work on Pecan Park and other dependencies. Staff described activity at Burleson Crossing East (near Lowe’s), including site work for retail and restaurant tenants, and identified PetSmart as a planned anchor adjacent to a proposed Sprouts grocery store. Staff also identified an upcoming small commercial corner behind the Courtyard Marriott as “Jasper Street retail.” Other items noted in the slide package and discussion included a day-care proposal in the Bastrop Grove development along State Highway 304, a commercial tortilla factory in the industrial park (Fiesta Tortilla), remodels of downtown commercial properties, the Frontier Bank office remodel at 921 Main, Spring Street apartment remodels and the Dockside/BTX Bastrop downtown renovation (the former Cedar’s Grill property).
Staff summarized building-permit numbers on the monthly report (commercial remodels, irrigation permits, single-family permits and trades) and said most single-family permit activity for the near term is concentrated in Val Verde. Staff also said a handful of infill and remodel projects are active downtown and in industrial areas, and that some zoning-verification and property-transfer activity had generated administrative certifications.
Commissioners asked whether the planning slides and charts can be shared with other boards; staff confirmed the material is public business and may be shared. Staff also asked commissioners to help recruit volunteers after noting a recent commission resignation.
No formal land-use decisions or permit actions were taken during the report; the update was informational.
