Grove Pittsburgh would supply and install locked raised beds for community gardening, with a proposed model that allows residents to apply for plots.
Because the borough owns the property, staff said an amendment or addendum to a long‑term lease with the fire station will be needed to allow maintenance access. Borough counsel will prepare a short landowner letter of commitment so the project can proceed with the grant sponsors. Councilors expressed support and encouraged minimal borough cash outlay beyond in‑kind work such as milling and pavement removal.
No formal vote to enter a contract was taken at the workshop; staff said they would prepare the commitment letter and return with any needed lease amendment language.
