Plano Library launches book locker for older adults; Schimmelphinig branch reopens after shelving project

Steve Stoler, Plano media relations director, said adults 50 and over can select the Sam Johnson Recreation Center as a preferred pickup point in the library app or online catalog to pick up and return materials from the new locker.
Schimmelphinig Library has also reopened after a month-long closure for a reshelving project. Stoler said the previous shelving was more than 40 years old; the $384,000 project was paid for with 2021 bond funding. He added that patron holds moved to Haggard during the closure will remain there for pickup.
The city described the new book locker as an "innovative interdepartmental city collaboration to serve the needs of our community." The announcements were part of a weekly Plano City News update; no formal council action was reported in the recording.
Library users were directed to the library app or online catalog for details and to the city website for other city information.
