Council approves $55,000 payment to Murray County shelter; director thanks council for 10% increase

The City of Columbia City Council approved payment of $55,000 to Murray County to provide funding for the Murray County/City of Columbia Shelter Services facility for the third quarter of fiscal year 2024–25.
Kim Ratliff, director of the Murray County Shelter, addressed the council during the consent-agenda pull and thanked the council "for the 10% increase for next year." Ratliff said the shelter will work on an expansion project that will benefit both the shelter and the community.
The council moved, voted and approved the payment after Ratliff’s public comment. Council members recorded aye votes on the roll call and the motion passed.
