District audit closes with no findings; auditors praised transparency of subfund reporting

Prosser School District staff told the board that the 2024–25 (’24–’25) audit, which expanded in scope because of an earlier finding related to the FCC, has concluded with no formal findings.
Dolis (Staff member) summarized the audit process and results, telling the board the additional audit work began in January and concluded with a final exit report last week. “No findings. The FCC finding was actually dropped,” Dolis said. Auditors also provided a compliment: the district’s subfund report was described as among the cleanest and most transparent the auditor had seen, and other districts have reportedly used Prosser’s reporting as an example.
Staff also noted a single management-letter item related to certification documentation. According to the report, one teacher had a conditional certificate recorded under a different district and a district checkbox should have been updated when the employee moved to Prosser. That omission was described as an administrative error; the employee no longer works for the district, and staff said the issue did not produce a fine but served as a reminder to check personnel files.
Administrators said the audit required substantial staff time, particularly during a period of short staffing, and they thanked district employees for the effort. The audit report is public and available from the Washington State Auditor’s Office, staff added.
