Tour de Tonka organizers outline 20th anniversary ride, expect about 2,500 participants on Aug. 2

Bouderca said about 850 riders were registered at the time of the presentation — ahead of typical registration pace for this point in the year — and that 40‑ and 58‑mile routes will pass through Mound. She said volunteers will staff a rest stop at Bethel United Methodist Church and that event sponsors provide on‑route support such as bicycle mechanics and finish‑line food.
Why it matters: Tour de Tonka is a large regional fundraiser and community event. Bouderca said a portion of every registration is donated to the ICA food shelf and that the ride has raised more than $100,000 to date for that organization.
Details: Bouderca described legacy‑rider recognitions, anniversary merchandise and an expanded volunteer effort she estimated at roughly 600 volunteers across registration, rest stops and on‑route support. She told the council "You can register as late as the morning of the event," and that same‑day registration and on‑site options would remain available.
The council did not take action on the presentation; Bouderca was on the agenda to provide an update and to seek the council’s continued support of event routes and local coordination.
