Council approves tentative working conditions agreement with transit employees union

The Fond du Lac City Council unanimously approved a resolution on June 4 authorizing the execution of a tentative working conditions agreement with the Fond du Lac Transit Employees Union, Local 1366, AFSCME, AFL‑CIO.
Chad Wade, the city’s labor relations coordinator and an attorney with Rennie Lewis and Lacey, presented the agreement and the bargaining process. "When the parties negotiate... we reach what is referred to as a tentative agreement," Wade said. He explained that a tentative agreement means the city's bargaining team and the union's bargaining team have agreed to recommend the terms to the full union membership and to the city council; the union had approved the agreement and the council's vote completed the city's approval step.
Wade said the tentative agreement meets the city's budgetary goals for the transit department and that the bargaining team recommended its approval. Council members asked for clarification about the term "tentative," which Wade provided during the presentation.
Resolution No. 9185 was moved and seconded from the dais and passed unanimously; the council did not amend the terms at the public meeting.
