Several residents spoke in favor of maintaining funding for the Independence branch of the Grayson County public library during the meeting’s public‑comment period.
Star Anderson said she wanted to “give my support for our library system” and reminded the board that the library provides valuable resources to people who live in a part of the country where services can be scarce.
Mary Nell McPherson, who identified herself as a longtime property owner and volunteer, urged civility and community support for shared resources and thanked supervisors for their service. Larissa Venzi, who said she spent nine years as president of the Independence branch Friends of the Library, thanked the board and former supervisors for continuing to fund the library and described library programming she and her child use, including story time and a magic show. Justine Jackson Ricketts also spoke in support of keeping library services accessible to the community.
None of the library speakers requested a specific board action; their remarks were expressions of support and thanks.
