Sun City West will host a concert on July 3 featuring the Arizona Swing Kings Orchestra, with proceeds to benefit American Legion Post 94, Sun City West recreation manager Casey Huda said in a community video.
The event, timed around Independence Day activities, will include a trooping of the colors and other veteran-focused elements. "We're bringing Arizona Swing Kings Orchestra," Huda said, adding the group is a "19 piece band bringing a vocalist." She said last year the concert allowed Sun City West to donate $1,000 to Post 94 and organizers hope to raise more this year.
The concert is promoted as part of the community's July 3 and July 4 observances for veterans. In the video, a Sun City West host, Steven, noted that Post 94 is responsible for the boulevard of flags along RH Johnson Boulevard. Huda described that many flags placed along RH Johnson are donated by survivors and said the Post helps display them during patriotic holidays.
Tickets are $7 per person and can be purchased at suncitywest.com or at the Sun City West box office, Huda said. The recreation office also promoted other summer concerts but said the July 3 show is being emphasized as a fundraiser for the American Legion post.
Organizers encouraged residents to attend the concert and related holiday events; event materials and a video preview of the band are available at suncitywest.com.
