Superintendent Battle announces retirement after six years leading district

Reflecting on her career and family history, Battle said, “My heart is filled with gratitude,” and described personal and family influences on her commitment to education. She said she has no plans to return to employment and expects to begin retirement with travel and genealogy work.
Board members thanked the superintendent; no formal action was taken at this meeting on the transition. The superintendent will remain in her role through June 30 and staff indicated normal transition planning will proceed.
