ZBA approves temporary pylon sign for Farmingdale Hampton Inn; opening expected in August

The Zoning Board approved application 25078 to allow a freestanding pylon sign at the Hampton Inn under construction in Farmingdale. The applicant said the hotel is in the final stages of construction and hopes to open on Aug. 12.
Chris Robinson, president of R and M Engineering, said the proposed pylon sign conforms to height and location rules but exceeds the allowed sign face area; the requested sign area is 40 square feet where 32 square feet is permitted. County planning issued a “take no position” determination. The board voted to approve the requested variance for a five-year period.
No public comment opposed the application. The approval includes the usual permit conditions and signage compliance; the applicant may proceed to finalize sign permits per town requirements and the fire marshal/building-department review as needed.
