Assistant Fire Chief Ron Ogo told the Ways and Means Committee that Rota Fire and Emergency Medical Services operates two small revolving accounts — ambulance and fire prevention — with current balances and modest annual collections.
Ogo said the ambulance revolving fund held about $5,065.30 and the prevention fund about $4,009.03 at the time of testimony; he estimated the combined annual collections at roughly $9,000, but stressed that the accounts fluctuate with call volume. The department also described grant‑funded equipment recently received, including a side‑by‑side utility vehicle and a small pumper meant for narrow access roads.
The chief urged the committee to support an operational request to repair the station bays and to program capital funding for larger structural repairs. Committee members suggested pursuing Community Development Block Grant or other federal grants for station upgrades and to document equipment and facility needs for grant applications.
Discussion only: the department outlined modest revolving‑account receipts and planned grant applications; no funding decisions were made at the hearing.
