Yakima County commissioners voted Monday to sign a short letter to the City of Yakima asking city leaders to consider available options for a proposed downtown trolley and to explore outside funding and partner resources.

Commissioners described the letter as a measured approach that expresses county interest without stepping on city authority. The board noted the city does not currently have the funding to operate an expanded trolley program and advised that the city pursue outside funding or partner organizations to study options further.

A motion to assign the letter was moved and seconded during the work session; the board approved it by voice vote. County staff were instructed to prepare the letter for signature.
