Walla Walla County commissioners on June 2, 2025, unanimously approved a proclamation declaring June 2025 to be Valley Transit Month and urged residents to observe National "Dump the Pump" Day on June 15.

The proclamation recognized Valley Transit’s role as a lifeline for seniors and residents without cars, citing the agency’s ridership and zero-fare policy. Commissioner Bertha Clayton read the board’s formal proclamation and thanked Valley Transit staff for their service. Valley Transit staff promoted Mobility University, a family-friendly resource fair scheduled for Saturday, June 7, at the transit center.

The proclamation text highlighted statewide transit figures and the benefits of public transportation, noting actions that public transit supports — including economic activity, job access and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Valley Transit staff also described demonstrations and outreach planned for Mobility University, including instruction on bus bike-rack use and securing mobility devices.

The motion to approve the items on the consent agenda, including the proclamation, passed 3-0 with Commissioners Fulmer, Kimball and Clayton voting in favor.
