Bike Santa Fe reports summer events; MPO previews bike master plan amendment and public review

Weber reported "Summer of bike continues," citing group rides (including a ride from the Railyard to the Santa Fe Fuego game) and promotions ("if you bike, you do get $2 off your entry ticket"). She said Bike Santa Fe adjusted bike-valet staffing at IFAM to better serve volunteers and will continue Canyon Road Wednesday valets. The board is accepting letters of interest for its annual board election through July 3 and offers a small stipend to applicants who are low income or belong to groups historically underrepresented on nonprofit boards.
Leah (Santa Fe MPO) described a Bikes for Business pilot with the Economic Development Department (a ride and business-support series on Guadalupe Street) and said the MPO is finalizing street design guidance and a standalone amendment to the 2019 Bicycle Master Plan that adds "safer bicycle facilities" language beyond painted lanes. MPO staff expects to release both the amendment and the metropolitan transportation plan for public review later this month (30-day review) and a 40-day public review for the federally required public participation plan. She said BPAC will be included in the stakeholder review and that staff will present highlights at the next meeting.
Committee members asked about timing for releases; Leah said the policy board will take up the documents at its meeting later this month (fourth Thursday). Members suggested MPO provide early disposition feedback on public comments and asked staff to coordinate BPAC review with the planning-code process where appropriate.
