After an executive session on pending litigation, Snohomish County Council on June 4 voted unanimously to authorize settlement agreements in the matter of Sanchez et al. v. Snohomish County, King County Superior Court case no. 25-2-01801-6 KNT. The council approved settlement agreements in the total amount of $22,000 for each of the four plaintiffs named in the complaint.

The motion—moved, seconded and approved by voice vote—authorized the County Executive to execute documents necessary to memorialize the agreements in consultation with the prosecuting attorney. The council announced the vote as unanimous; the transcript records the chair announcing that the motion passed unanimously.

The executive session immediately preceding the vote was held pursuant to RCW 42.30.110 for pending litigation; the county announced the session and estimated its duration on the public record before convening. No discussion of the litigation’s substance or settlement terms beyond the payment amounts and case number was made on the public record during the meeting.

The settlements were authorized as part of a walk-on motion at the close of the legislative agenda, and the council recessed afterward until a scheduled public hearing later that morning.
