The Planning and Community Development Committee moved Motion 20-5-22 to the General Legislative Session on Jan. 8 to set a time and date for a hearing to confirm the appointment of Jeff Chandler to the Snohomish County Planning Commission.
Council staff said Jeff Chandler is a full-time Monroe resident in Council District 5 and that he has experience in construction contracting and real estate. Councilmember Lowe is sponsoring the nomination. Staff said the Planning Commission has 11 positions, nine current members and that Chandler's appointment would bring membership to ten.
A committee member asked whether an application form was included in the staff report; staff said an application was requested but not received, and noted that Planning Commission nominations may come from council members and an application is not strictly required. The committee moved the item to the Jan. 8 General Legislative Session to set the hearing date so the appointment could be confirmed before the planning commission meeting later in the month.
