LVPRC raises concerns about member absences and requests county email addresses for public-records compliance

Committee members said Brian Krantz has missed multiple consecutive regular meetings without notifying the group, and they noted the committee has reached the three-consecutive-absence threshold described in county guidance for volunteer advisory bodies. Bill Evans was recorded as absent and had notified the committee by email. Members asked staff to confirm whether the county code or an applicable policy defines a vacancy or removal procedure for advisory committees and to bring that guidance to the next meeting.
The committee also asked county staff to obtain county-issued email addresses for committee members. Members said that because they completed open-meeting and public-information training and are subject to the Public Information Act and open-meeting requirements, a county email address dedicated to committee business would limit exposure of private personal accounts to public-records requests and simplify compliance.
Staff response and next steps - Staff said they would follow up with Mark Tompkins, the interim director, to determine whether county email addresses are available for the LVPRC and to report back at the next meeting. - Staff also agreed to research the county code and policies regarding consecutive absences and whether a formal process exists for declaring a vacancy or pursuing removal. - Committee members agreed that staff should attempt to contact Brian Krantz by email and phone before pursuing any formal vacancy steps, and that they would place the absence-and-vacancy issue on the next meeting agenda.
