A planning staff member said the county obtained temporary access to two instructional videos and reference materials and offered to distribute them: "We can send it to you guys, and you can watch on your own time," the staff member said. Members discussed cost and availability of the materials; one participant said "$60. Yeah. Altogether," while a later staff comment stated, "We spent $360 just to reserve the videos to watch them during the 2 meetings and for all the reference materials." The staff member said the paid access was time-limited and that they would check whether the videos could be re-circulated or shown at a future meeting.
The workshop covered a range of topics raised by commissioners, including handling disorderly commenters, the use of off‑duty officers for security, whether to include public comment in minutes, and social-media considerations for officials. Staff and members agreed the materials could inform a local policy review and potential guidance for future meetings.
No formal policy or rule change was adopted during the meeting; staff committed to sending the training links and reference materials to commissioners.
