The Okanogan County Planning Commission opened nominations for leadership and elected Stacy as vice chair while the current chair retained the chairmanship.
By the commission's bylaws, nominations proceeded in the order of vice chair then chair. A member nominated Stacy: "Yeah. I nominate Stacy," and another member nominated Joe for chair during the same nominations period. When asked whether he would accept the nomination, Joe said, "I don't wanna accept the nomination. Really?" The commission conducted voice votes on the nominations.
With no further nominations and only one candidate for vice chair, the chair called for a voice vote: "All in favor?" Members responded "Aye." The chair then announced Stacy as the new vice chair and stated that the chair would remain in place.
Commissioners discussed the order of nominations and noted that giving members a turn in leadership helps them learn positions. The election proceeded by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The commission did not record written tallies; results were announced verbally during the meeting.
