A visitor told the MSD Martinsville Schools Board of School Trustees that meeting minutes and personnel reports were not available online before the meeting and asked the board to restore pre-meeting access.
Jen Knuckles Stafford, who identified herself to the board, said, “Neither of those items are available to the public prior to this meeting.” She told trustees she had noticed personnel reports were removed months earlier and that meeting minutes had not appeared online for the last two months, and added, “It’s hard to comment on things you can’t see.”
Board President Heather Staggs opened public comment by reading the board’s public-comment rule and cited district policy 167.3, which requires speakers to state their full name and address and limits speaking time. Staggs said feedback or answers to questions would be provided “before the next board meeting and or during the old business section of the next board meeting.”
Knuckles Stafford asked the board to “reconsider that position and make those meeting minutes and make those personnel reports available prior to this meeting.” Trustees did not take a formal vote on the request during the meeting; the board reiterated that responses would be provided later.
The matter appears to remain a procedural request to the board rather than a formal action: the transcript records public comment and a board statement that staff would follow up with answers before the next meeting.
