Crowell asked the board to (1) restrict the notification requirement to parents withdrawing a child from district schools and (2) explicitly state that a qualifying homeschool program satisfies the compulsory attendance requirement in state law.
Superintendent Craig Behringer said the policy language had been provided by the Wyoming School Boards Association following new legislation and that staff will perform a statutory check and present any necessary clarifications at the third reading. Trustees approved IGBD on first reading and directed staff to verify whether the policy text fully reflects House Bill 46 (the Homeschool Freedom Act) and the cited Wyoming statutes before final adoption.
