The Weber School District board approved five policies on a first reading during the June 10 meeting, including a new time‑and‑effort policy and amendments to attendance and family/parental leave rules.
The board adopted new Policy 3370 (Time and Effort) and new Policy 7200 (Salary Supplement for Highly Needed Educators). Policy 7200 was revised before the reading to clarify definitions and to add detail on the appeals process. The board also adopted new Policy 1160 to define the role and responsibilities of legal counsel within the district.
The board approved an amended attendance policy (Policy 4170) updated to include law‑required changes and schoolwide strategies. Superintendent staff also presented a revised Family and Medical Leave policy (Policy 7700) renamed Family, Medical and Parental Leave to incorporate parental‑leave eligibility and postpartum recovery leave required by recent legislation.
Each policy was submitted to the board on a reading and approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Board members asked staff to provide clear messaging to parents about attendance policy changes before the new school year so that families understand registration and attendance procedures.
