Board approves purchase of two salt‑plow trucks; schedules June 23 special meeting and executive session on Child Victims Act case

The Niagara Falls City School District Board on June 12 voted to approve the purchase of two OGS mini plow trucks equipped for salt spreading and plowing. District staff said the vehicles were bid and, if approved, procurement steps would proceed within 45 days so delivery can be scheduled before winter.

During the evening the board also scheduled a special, non‑voting meeting for Monday, June 23 at 5 p.m. (with dinner at 5:30 and an expected executive session beginning about 6:15) to review results of a 920‑person smart‑device survey, place approximately 80 resolutions in hand for July 1, and discuss personnel promotion matters in executive session.

Superintendent Mark Lohrey asked board members to approve the procurement so purchase orders could be issued promptly; the plow truck purchase (resolution 634) was approved by roll call. Later in the meeting district leadership requested and the board approved an executive session for a single permissible item: litigation related to a Child Victims Act case; the board stated no action would follow the executive session.

The special June 23 meeting was described as short and intended to allow the board to receive survey results and finalize July 1 materials; district staff said the meeting would also include a closed session to discuss promotions and the Child Victims Act litigation item.
