The Harris County Board of Education approved a new districtwide employee handbook and accepted school‑level faculty and student/parent handbooks for the 2025‑26 school year on June 12.
Dr. Finney and staff described the district handbook as the first districtwide employee handbook and said it reflects a year of work by HR and other staff. The handbook updates include a revised employee dress code to allow practical, professional attire—especially in STEAM and elementary classrooms—while maintaining standards for administrators.
Miss Baker said the district handbook will be provided in hard copy to families and staff and also posted on the district website; school handbooks remain living documents that can be edited as needed. The board approved the district employee handbook and the school handbooks by motion and vote.
Board members praised staff for the work compiling the handbooks and noted the district will monitor implementation and ensure families sign and acknowledge receipt where required for tribunals or other proceedings.
