Dr. Finney said the policy is intended to protect students, support staff engaged in graduate research and standardize review when external researchers request access. The board will post the policy for 30 days and vote at the next appropriate meeting.
Policy K‑8: Exhibit addition on artificial intelligence to IFBG — Internet acceptable use. The administration proposed adding AI language to acceptable‑use policies for students, staff and parents in light of rising AI use and referenced state legislation (the superintendent referenced a house bill, noted in the discussion as "House Bill 351"), and state guidance requiring updates. The exhibit will be posted for 30 days before the board votes.
Board members asked clarifying questions and were told each of these proposals must remain on the books for 30 days before final action. No final votes were taken on these three items at the June 12 meeting.
