At the Sept. 18 meeting the Worcester Historical Commission accepted two sets of minutes (July 24 and Aug. 7) after a commissioner requested a clerical correction to the minutes to standardize how names are recorded.
Staff presented an invitation from the city to comment on a HUD-funded Section 106 project at 61 Reed Street; commissioners agreed not to provide comment on that project.
Chair Diane Long announced she submitted a letter of resignation and that her service on the commission will end in December 2025. She said she has served for eight years and encouraged commissioners to consider who might serve as chair or vice chair; she also noted the commission needs a member to sit on the Community Preservation Board and suggested commissioners interested in leadership shadow her over the remaining six meetings to assist with transition. Another commissioner also said they plan to resign at the end of the year.
Commissioners discussed logistics of replacing historic-district representatives and alternates and agreed to continue the conversation at future meetings. With no additional business, the commission adjourned.
