Patterson told the commission, “I’m here because I have to put a new roof on my house,” and described multiple contractor visits and loose or missing shingles that she said posed safety concerns for people using the driveway. She said she selected an architectural asphalt shingle product marketed as durable for New England weather and noted it comes with a lifetime warranty.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about materials and color; Patterson said the replacement will be asphalt to asphalt and she showed the proposed sample color described as “Choco Black.” There was no public comment. The commission’s motion found replacement with the proposed roof material appropriate for the Elm Park Local Historic District and the motion passed unanimously.
