Boyertown district hears $1.74 million plan to restore New Hanover Elementary roof

Tremco told the Boyertown Area School District Board on June 10 that New Hanover Elementary’s spray-applied foam roof is leaking and requires an extensive restoration estimated at about $1,740,000.
Randy Klein, a Tremco representative, said the company’s preferred approach is to scarify the top two inches (deeper where moisture is present), reinstall two inches of new foam, prime and apply a silicone coating with embedded sand for fire rating and slip resistance. “You see the photograph, the largest photo. It's got bubbles and blisters, moisture trapped into it,” Klein said, describing the scanning that identified wet spots.
