City staff recommended awarding the 2025 crack-sealing program to Buck Pavement Restoration LLC after evaluating two identical bids and the materials proposed by each bidder. Staff said Buck’s specified material is a better option for Moraine’s roads and recommended awarding the contract at the accepted bid of $69,600 plus a 10% contingency, bringing the recommended authorization to $76,560. Staff noted that the recommended total is below the project budget of $80,000.
“The material specified by Buck is [a] better option for our type of project and roads, including the 10% contingency that would bring this project to $76,560 which is well below the $80,000 budget,” a public works presenter said.
A motion to prepare legislation for the next council meeting to award the contract to Buck Pavement Restoration LLC and to authorize the $76,560 total passed by roll call. Members recorded as voting in favor included Miss Allen, Mayor Murphy, Mister Miller, Mister Bridgette and Miss Marcus. The referral sends the contract award and associated appropriation back to the full council for formal authorization.
Staff did not provide a line-item breakdown of how the $76,560 would be charged across accounts during the committee discussion; that detail is expected in the legislation returned to council.
